More for your community.
What We Do
We must foster
health-generating cultures.
Every community deserves to be empowered by health opportunities and food security. Success in achieving this vision requires grounding the data in real-life, advocating for what works, and listening generously to what the community is sharing surrounding ownership for action and equitably redesigning our food systems to dismantle systemic racism.
Our Vision is
Equity & Sustainability.
“Racism is a root cause of the social arrangements that allocate life to some and premature death to others.” – Arrianna Planey, MA, PhD
By focusing on what causes health (salutogenesis) we’re able to seek greater, better, and more for disparaged communities. Together, we can create a new proximity to nutrient-rich foods with consistent eating patterns. These patterns are just a piece of the puzzle to creating manageable, meaningful, and comprehensible coherence across communities. We must work the existing system from the inside in order to create the change we wish to see. Let’s work to increase population impact and decrease individual effort required.
Â
Individual
Focus on the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of those community members in subject. Ask questions and listen to hear what the community feels, needs to change and act accordingly. Their lived experiences combined with data collected will empower solutions.
Interpersonal
Understand family dynamics, friendships, and the health of social networks within the population. Explore the intentional routes that can be taken to share information together to solve complex problems. Credit is gained through shared goals not individualistic ones alone.
Organizational
Assess organizations, schools, and workplaces within the community. Understand where ownership and mobilization rests within the spaces currently. Organizations play a role, but ownership belongs to the people. We must change this to be the new narrative if we wish to make sustainable change.
Community
Design, access, connect and create space. Take the lived experiences and collected data to redesign and ground solutions. Link together all needed points and redevelop the current systems and policies that cause perpetual harm. Acknowledge the pain points and opportunities at play. Dismantle systems and restructure designs to break the cycles of repetitive inequities
